This print (plate) is from the Album of Decorative Figures by J. Moyr Smith, published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington - Crown Buildings, Fleet Street, London in 1882. This plate is a sketch Queen Katherine from Shakespeare's "King Henry VIII". These subjects were done as part of a frieze, which was done in the style of fifteenth century illuminated manuscripts. The sheet measures about 14.5" x 11" and, while rough around the edges, the artwork is intact with what appears to be sufficient room for matting and framing. These original plates are very scarce, as the Album of Decorative Figures by J. Moyr Smith is itself a very scarce volume. WorldCat lists only 21 copies in the world's libraries. Please examine images closely for condition and ask any questions before ordering.
